Induced abortion: the Italian issues of foreign women in an international perspective

In the last years in Italy abortion levels stop the decreasing trend because of the different recourse to abortion by marital status, age and citizenship. In particular Italian data show that higher levels are referred to young and never married women. Moreover, if they are also foreign women, levels could be three o four times higher than Italian ones. The aim of this paper is to compare levels of induced abortion of foreign women resident in Italy with levels referred to women living in their country of origin. Do foreign women resident in Italy change their behaviour with respect to induced abortion in the country of origin? What are differences by age and marital status? We focus our attention on the most numerous groups of women making an induce abortion in Italy: Romania, Ukraine, Albania.
