Differentials of healthy life expectancy in Havana City, Cuba: socioeconomic factors associated with disabilities and diseases in older adults by sex

Life expectancy in Cuba for 2005-2008 period reached 80,02 years old in women and 76 years old for men, showing 4,02 years of differential between sexes. Nevertheless, Cuba places among countries with higher life expectancy in the world, and the geriatric life expectancy is 20,8 years for men and 23,4 for women, with 2,6 years of differential by sex. In the research, the hypothesis is that the women have a minor life expectancy that the one that they had to have. The aim of the work is to calculate the healthy life expectancy for the older adults, and to investigate the association of socioeconomic factors with the presence of disabilities or chronic diseases for sex using multivaried models.
