Theoretical ideas about the gender gap in life-expectancy in Austria

In demography it is a common fact that the gender gap in life expectancy differs between men and women. Several theories bear in mind, that there is a wide range of factors that lie behind this phenomenon. In our project focus on generating theories through a qualitative approach by conducting expert interviews with general practitioners and linking them to the actual theoretical debate to gain more in depth views about this phenomenon and the factors that may explain the narrowing of the gender gap particularly.
