Migration and the new social risks management

European welfare states are challenged by the emergence of new social risks related to lack of demanded skills, work-family balance problems and population ageing. Migrants aren't perceived as a new risk group even though they are deeply affected by these risks and they are the least protected against them. Migrants' disadvantaged position can lead to decrease of solidarity and de-legitimacy of welfare state. Migrants, however, also help cope with the new risks. The task of public policies is to promote the positive effects of migration and reduce the negative ones. In our paper, we elaborate relation between new social risks and migration and focus on management of new social risks in the context of migration. We show that low attention is paid to immigrants and that substantial implementation gap exists.
