Late fertility diagnosis, socio-economic and health determinants in Poland. Results of cohort prospective survey 2007

Last 18years of systemic changes in Poland influenced on demographic attitudes and behaviors, which effected in changes of demographic processes. The most important signs of those changes are: postponement of marriages and childbearing, increase of cohabitations and extramarital births, increase of divorces, decreased number of births due to lower fertility. To understand transformation of fertility in Poland to very low level (actual TFR=1.3) it is necessary to identify determinants of this transformation including late fertility determinants diagnosis. IS&D WSE decided to conduct the survey: “Late fertility diagnosis. Cohort prospective survey of demographic, socio-economic and health determinants”. The main purpose of the Survey was identification of determinants of scale, range of fertility transformation in Poland, description of procreation decisions process, including decision of births postponement, procreation plans and identification of demographic, socio-economic and health determinants. Paper presents main results of first panel Survey 2007 based on theoretical assumptions and empirical results.
