Marriage timing, ethnicity and religion in Kazakhstan

We build on previous research by Agadjanian and others to explore whether the minority group status hypothesis holds for marriage timing among ethnic/religious subpopulations in Kazakhstan in the 1990s. Using the 1995 and 1999 Kazakh Demographic and Health Surveys, our event history analysis of marriage timing adds to recent similar studies of birth intervals using these same data, and re-visits earlier studies of marriage timing in the country that were not based on event-history models.
