Violence against women and girl children in Cameroon

Violence against women and girl children is a worldwide phenomenon, but its incidece is very high in Cameroon and the Central African Region in general.The presistence of these violent acts against women and girl children in Cameroon is quite contradictory considering the fact that Cameroon is a signatory to many conventions on the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girl children and many provisions exist in its penal code to prohibit the exercise of these acts.The 2004 Cameroon DHS and a study carried out by GTZ showed that violent acts against women such as forceful sex,physical assault even during pregnancy,female genital mutilation, psychological violence, etc are still common amongst the rural and urban populations of Cameroon and among the educated and the uneducated.This poster presents the situation of violence aginst women and girl children in Cameroon on tables, graphs;diagrams and maps.
